Do I need a visa?
Depending on your nationality you may be required to apply for a visa to study in Ireland.

How much money should I bring to Ireland for long-term study?

All non-EEA students, including those who do not require a visa, must register with their local immigration officer to get permission to remain in Ireland for more than 90 days. Students who do not require a visa must have €3,000 when they first register with their local immigration officer, if they are coming to study for more than 6 months. 


Do I need medical insurance?

All Visa requiring international students are required to have private medical insurance, either personally or through a group scheme at time of registration. To support you meeting this requirement IBAT College’s tuition fees for visa requiring international students includes payment for an approved insurance policy, which the College purchases for you upon receipt of full tuition fee payment. 


Can you meet me at the airport in Dublin?

Yes. We offer airport pick-up service for our students. Please get in touch with our admissions team(admissions@ibat.ie) to know more about prices and availability. 


When can I start my course?

All English courses commence on Monday.  You can choose any Monday of any month to start your course, to check availability, please email admissions@ibat.ie. 


How many students are in each class?

Maximum of 15 Students per class


Do I need to pass a test in order to enter your school?

There is no minimum level required to enter our English classes. However, you will be asked to take our online placement test in advance to help us place you in a class appropriate to your standard of English.


Do you have any activities I can participate in after class?

As a student you will have instant access to a wide range of activities to help you develop your social and professional path - from networking events with recruiters, conversation club, daytrips to iconic destinations to our monthly book club. As part of our Careers Service, we offer several networking evenings and guest speakers each month.  Networking evenings include LinkedIn and online branding workshops, career planning seminars, professional diploma networking events to specialist presentations from guest speakers, from industry and recruitment.


What qualifications do your teachers have?

All teachers possess at minimum, a major award at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent.  In addition teachers also have an ACELS recognised ELE qualification or equivalent.


Can I get a certificate at the end of my course?

All students upon request, receive a Certificate of Achievement upon course completion. Contact: englishteam@ibat.ie stating your student number and your certificate will be available within 5 working days.


Can I use my laptop computer in the school?

There is free Wi-Fi access throughout both Frederick Street and Wellington Quay campuses and IBAT College Dublin also has a number of fully equipped computer laboratories.   Students may also use the library computers to access online materials.


Will there be internet access or Wi-Fi in my accommodation

Yes, our host families and student residences have Wi-Fi available for students.


When are school holidays?

The school will be closed for Christmas break from the 16th December2022 and reopen again on the 3rd of January 2023.

 Irish Public Holidays 2022: 3rd of January, 17th &18th of March, 18th of April, 2nd of May, 6th of June, 1st of August, 31st of October, 25th and 26th of December.  No refund or time in lieu given for public holidays.


Can I work in Ireland?

If you apply for the 25 weeks Programme, you can take up to 20 hours (part-time work) during you course and 40 hours (full-time work) during your holiday period.


Can I extend my accommodation in my host family or residence?

Yes.  Detailed instructions on how to extend your accommodation will be outlined on your Accommodation Confirmation Letter.  Alternatively, you can send an email to admissions@ibat.ie at least 3 business days before your accommodation check-out date and we’ll be able to assist you.


How do I request medical insurance/details to be sent to immigration?

Request all letters online stating your student number and confirm the following details: Full Name/ Date of Birth / Home Country Address/Irish Address /Irish Contact Number. Please allow 5 working days for processing documents.
