Where do I open a bank account and what do I need?

A bank account may be opened at any of the following banks: AIB Bank, Bank of Ireland, and Permanent TSB.

Firstly, you are required to make an appointment with the bank to open an account. The documentation needed is your Passport and a utility bill (phone, gas, electricity bill) with proof of your permanent Irish address.   If you do not have a utility bill with your name and address, most banks will accept a Confirmation of Students Details letter from the college.


What documents do I need to register with INIS/GNIB (immigration)?

  1. Student Details Letter - Confirmation of Enrolment
  2. Valid/Current Medical Insurance
  3. Immigration Appointment Confirmation
  4. Proof you have access to €3,000 funds to support your stay in Ireland
  5. Passport
  6. Access to €300 to pay the IRP card

 

How do I request a letter or documents for Bank or INIS/GNIB?

All requests for letters are done via the IBAT Portal.

To request a letter please login using the following link:   https://my.ibat.ie/helpdesk/create-ticket  and choose the appropriate option.  Please ensure you provide your student number and relevant details regarding your request. You can also use your phone to create a ticket using the URL: tinyurl.com/ibathelp  or a QR code available in the campus.


Can I take holidays from my course and how do I request?

Yes, you can but, you need to complete 10 weeks of your course before you request holidays. To do so, please log in to https://my.ibat.ie/helpdesk/create-ticket and choose holiday option

You can take a minimum of one week and a maximum of two weeks of holiday at one given time. Your holidays need to start on a Monday and finish on a Friday.


Can I change the Campus?

All English classes are taught in Ibat College, North Frederick Street.

Can I change my level or my class and how do I request the change?

To change your level, you need to take and pass our level test. The level test takes place every 6 weeks and is available to all the students. You are required to take all parts of the test and you need to achieve an overall score of 70% (at least) to change level.

How can I change my class timetable?

This depends on the availability of courses and the number of students registered. There is no guarantee that a change to your schedule a  can be granted.   Requests are  considered and granted on a case by case basis.  There is also a difference in fees between the AM and PM classes.  Specific information on fee rates can be provided by admissions@ibat.ie.


How can I check my attendance? Is it important?

Your attendance is very important and should never fall below 85% (according to GNIB regulations).   If you wish to check your attendance please log in to http://intranet.ibat.ie using your @ibat.ie login details. Attendance is updated weekly.

To check your attendance online, please login to the IBAT Portal using the link below

In the top left of the screen enter the same Google @ibat.ie username and password first sent to you.

After you login to the Portal there will be several online supports and services available.

Please click the "Class Attendance" button and follow the instructions, you will then see your attendance.

Please allow 4 working days to update your attendance at the end of week

Do I have to take an official English examination such as Cambridge, IELTS or TIE?

Yes, it is an essential part of your visa requirement.  Every student needs to take an exit exam at the end of their course.   IBAT College is a TIE certified exam centre and offers TIE to all of its students.  If you wish to take any other exit exam, you can choose any of the following: Cambridge exam, IELTS or Trinity exam.   Unfortunately, IBAT College cannot assist you in booking alternative exams.


How do I request a refund for a Cambridge, IELTS, TIE exam?

To request a Tie refund you  need to complete the online request form (https://www.ibat.ie/refund-policy.html ).

You also need to upload payment & proof of registration for an alternative English language examination.  Refunds can take up to 30 working days.


Does the LearnEnglish self-study platform affect my attendance?

Learn English Now (ReallyEnglish) is an additional learning platform which supports flexible self-study for students; it can also compliment your online classes via Google Classroom and Google Meet. Participation is very important, but attendance is primarily based on attendance and interactions with the teacher and other students using Google Classroom and Google Meet.


How can I print something at the school?

There are printing facilities in both campuses; we also provide online access to course content and other support materials via Google Classroom and Moodle.


Will I be able to access class notes and other materials online?

We currently provide online access to all course content and other support materials via Google Classroom and Moodle.


 

How can I check my course end date?

I am finishing my course this week, where do I get my certificate?

Congratulations on completing your course! A few days before your course finishes you will receive an email titled ’My last day in IBAT’. You will find a lot of important information about your course completion in our college, for example how to request your certificate of achievement.
